I thrive in an environment that caters to my career development. Since I’ve been working here I’m constantly being challenged which merely sharpens my skills as a therapist; I keep learning from my peers, supervisors and my clients; there’s opportunity to grow in my career and put to practice my ideas. I am deeply grateful! Because of them and the people in this agency, I approach community mental health with the same trust and passion to help people reach their potential or at least open doors. I continue to stay to pass on that legacy.

I have really been able to grow in my journey as an individual, therapist and team member. One of the things I love most about working here is the amount of value and praise our board of directors and leadership team breed for our hard work. It’s really hard to walk away from an agency that not only “walks the walk” but also “talks the talk” in regards to the quality of care, support and innovative resources we have to offer our community here in South Los Angeles. Our strength is defined every day when we look at the opportunities and change we help create with the children, young adults, and families we serve.

I have to say that I am proud to work for an organization that has a good reputation in the community. It is an organization that is committed to offering good quality services to a population that is underserved and underrepresented. Wellnest has also invested in their employees by offering trainings, yearly fun staff events and in supporting those that want to be promoted within the Clinic.

Wellnest has provided exceptionally good mental health services to children and their families in South LA for over 90 years. I have had the opportunity to be part of this legacy of high quality, compassionate service. I have enjoyed working with caring, competent people—the clinical staff, the support staff, administrators and an active, involved Board of Directors—who share this value of service. Also, I have enjoyed and been enriched by many individual children and youth and families who have come through our doors.

I enjoy working at Wellnest because I know the work that I do contributes to improving the lives of many children and youth in Los Angeles. As Facilities and Transportation Coordinator, I also enjoy overseeing improvement projects, meeting new vendors and contractors.

Working at Wellnest has exposed me to a number of highly trained and mutually supportive staff across clinical and support positions, to develop professional colleagues within and outside the Clinic, as well as form life-long friendships. Wellnest also maintains a strong orientation towards the training and professional development of its staff that has allowed me to promote my career from unlicensed therapist out of graduate school to the current Access and Wellness Services Director.

It’s the Clinic’s mission that has kept me here for the past 14 years. As a therapist, it has been very rewarding knowing that we are serving some of the most at risk children/youth and making a difference in their lives. As a clinical supervisor, it has been very rewarding to be part of a team that gets to support and guide clinicians in their professional development.

As a supervisor and manager, I can’t help but be impressed by the people I work with. It is such a pleasure to be able to supervise such a supportive, committed and dedicated group of people. Because I see and feel this support and dedication on a daily basis, I can reflect back my joy in the work we all do to serve a community in great need.

Because of that ambition, I have no doubt that it will not only survive, but thrive in our ever changing landscape.
