In English: Immigration raids and deportations are having a serious impact on the mental health of both immigrant children and U.S.-born children, according to a report by mental health professionals from the University of California. Experts say many children live with constant anxiety over the possibility of their parents being detained or deported, which can lead to symptoms such as nightmares, trouble sleeping or eating, irritability, and physical complaints. Specialists warn that family separation can increase the risk of depression, suicidal thoughts, and substance abuse among adolescents. They emphasize the importance of honest conversations with children and seeking early mental health support, noting that free services are available in California through Medi-Cal.
