Start the Conversation. It Can Change a Life.

Talking about mental health does not have to feel uncomfortable or complicated. Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do for a young adult is simply ask how they are doing – and truly listen.

Right now, so many young people are carrying stress, anxiety, loneliness, pressure, grief, or trauma, but may not know how to ask for help. Fear of judgment can keep them quiet.

That’s where you come in.

One caring conversation can help a young person feel seen and not alone.

Send a text. Make a call. Start the conversation.

You don’t need the perfect words, just show up with care.
Check-in Questions:
  • How have you really been feeling lately?
  • “What’s been weighing on your mind recently?”
  • “Have things felt stressful or overwhelming lately?”
For Someone Who May Be Struggling:
  • “I’ve noticed you haven’t seemed like yourself lately. Want to talk?”
  • “You’ve been carrying a lot. How are you coping?”
  • “Would it help to talk to someone for extra support?”
Supportive Prompts:
  • “You don’t have to go through things alone.”
  • “I’m here to listen and not judge.”
  • “It’s okay to not be okay.”
